The giant water bug is one of the larger bugs in the world. It lives freshwater habitats such as ponds and streams. Its nervous system consists of a brain and a ventral cord. This cord runs down the stomach side of the organism and consists of many nerves allowing the nerves to communicate with each other when preforming an action. The giant water bug also has ganglia, which is a cluster of nerve cells. The ganglia it has are located in the brain and other parts of the body to transmit information.
