The scorpionfly gets its name from it genitalia which looks exactly like a scorpion's stinger. Its nervous system consists of a brain that is made up into three parts, a ventral nerve cord, and a ganglion . The brains three parts are the protocerebrum which controls the eye sight, the deutocerebrum which controls the antennae, and the tritocerebrum which includes the ganglion. The antennae are used for the sense of touch. The ganglion has ganglia that help it connect to the thorax.
