The nervous system of a ragworm is all connected to its brain. The brain is found within the prostomium. The prostomium is connected to the ventral nerve cord. This nerve cord contains two kinds of nerve fibers, giant nerves and normal nerves. Giant nerves are used when the Ragworm is making an escape move from its predator. The giant nerves are responsible for making quick moves in small spaces. The normal nerves carry out everyday functions. The ventral nerve cord is the one main nerve cord that runs down the length of the Ragworm. It connects all the ganglia to the central nervous system. This allows the ragworm to have a very centralized nervous system.
